About Clothing Color, Tone, and Style

When more than one person is to appear in the portrait, or when a special stylistic effect is desired, clothing and prop choices can make or break a portrait.

Think about whether you would like a casual or formal portrait and where you will be displaying it.  Consider the decor of your home and choose matching or coordinating clothing.

Pay close attention to shoes.  Many times full length portraits are taken and they will show.

Please avoid large prints or patterns in clothing.  Solid colors are best.

Long sleeved shirts or sweaters are better than short sleeves.

Dark shades are normally best on a dark background.

Causal clothing compliments portraits made in outdoor environments.

These suggestions are only guidelines.  This can take time to coordinate, but it will be well worth your time and effort!
